Transportable homes: common questions
- What is a transportable home?
- A transportable home is built off site in a factory or yard, then trucked to your property and craned onto prepared foundations. It arrives largely complete, so the time spent building on your section is much shorter than a traditional build.
- Can a transportable home be moved again later?
- Yes. Because the home is built on a transportable chassis or skid system and lifted onto piles, it can be relocated in future, subject to access, crane positioning and council requirements at the new site.
- How much does a transportable home cost in NZ?
- We quote three clear options inc GST: home price ex factory, delivered to site, and turn key excluding local services. The right option depends on how much of the site work you want us to handle.
- What access do you need to deliver a transportable home?
- We need truck access to the property and room for a crane to set up within reach of the foundations. Ground conditions, overhead power lines, driveway width and corners all matter, which is why we run a site assessment before quoting.
- Do transportable homes need a building consent?
- Yes, in almost all cases. Council consent covers the home, foundations and services. We supply the plans and specifications you need for your application.
Can a transportable home fit your site?
Tell us where your property is and we'll assess truck access, crane positioning and the site works your build would need. Takes about two minutes.
